Set up an AI interview assistant for Zoom

You can hear the interviewer through your headphones, but Vibe does not show their question. Check Zoom audio and Vibe system audio separately. Use a short practice call with the same devices and sharing mode you plan to use in the interview.

Before the call

Install Vibe from the download page and complete its permission setup. Check the requirements for your OS and processor there: macOS and Windows beta builds can differ. Run Zoom and Vibe on the same computer for this guide.

  • Connect your headphones before the practice call and select them as the Zoom speaker.
  • Have your resume and job description ready if you want to use them as answer context. Remove details you do not want to share.
  • Choose the interview language and check current access terms on the pricing page. Promotions have an end date.

1. Check Zoom audio first

In Zoom audio settings, select your headphones or speakers and microphone, then test each device. Use a test meeting to confirm that Zoom receives your voice and you can hear its audio.

If the other person cannot hear you, fix the Zoom microphone first. Changing the Vibe answer model will not fix it. For browser-based Zoom, also check the site microphone permission; that permission does not grant Vibe access.

2. Check the other person’s speech in Vibe

Start a Vibe session. Ask a practice partner to say a short question and look for it in the transcript. Stay quiet during that sentence so you can distinguish the incoming call audio from your own microphone.

Say a separate sentence yourself and check that too. Receiving your voice does not prove Vibe receives Zoom audio. Headphones reduce acoustic echo; Vibe uses system audio for the other person’s speech.

Ask a complete question and wait for a suggestion to test the answer path. A Zoom test tone checks playback, but it does not test speech transcription or answer generation.

3. macOS permissions

Open System Settings, then Privacy & Security. Check Vibe access to the microphone and screen / system audio recording. The section name varies by macOS version. Granting Zoom access does not grant it to Vibe.

If macOS asks you to restart the application after a permission change, quit and reopen Vibe, then repeat the practice call. Do not disable system security or reset unrelated permissions to fix one audio problem.

4. Check sharing from the other participant’s device

Share the same window, screen or tab you intend to use during the interview. Ask the other participant to inspect it from their device. Your local preview is not a substitute.

Vibe provides window protection for supported macOS capture paths. Results depend on the OS, client version and capture method. A check in the Zoom app does not certify browser Zoom, another service or Windows beta.

Check audio and visibility separately. A correct transcript says nothing about what the other person can see. Agree on using an assistant where your interview rules allow it.

Windows beta

Download the build for your system and repeat the same call checks: the other person’s speech, your voice, an answer and the shared view. The macOS permission instructions do not apply to Windows.

This guide does not certify window protection across all Windows versions and Zoom clients. If your configuration fails, note the OS, Vibe and Zoom versions and contact support before the interview.

Final pre-call checklist

  • You and the other participant hear each other in Zoom.
  • Vibe shows the other participant’s complete sentence and your separate reply.
  • A suggestion appears for a test question, with the correct language and context.
  • The other participant has checked your chosen sharing mode.
  • You have kept the same headset, audio devices and connection method since the check. Repeat it after any change.
